Technology Tools Review

MOODLE is an educational learning platform, which stands for Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment. This is a great tool to use in any educational establishment. The University of Guam uses MOODLE to conduct online and on-ground classes. Professors may post important announcements and a description of weekly lessons using text or links that students may access or download. Regarding assignments, instructors may provide deadlines and various ways for students to turn in their assignments. (Ex. links, photos, text, and documents) Furthermore, instructors may provide feedback, create groups for students, emails to notify when an assignment has been submitted or graded, and communicating in discussion forums. I find this app convenient for students and teachers, as it can be accessed globally. It allows me to be updated with class materials and assignments created by my instructors. This platform may require significant usage and practice to experience its fullest potential. I love and appreciate MOODLE as a technology tool.

Google Chrome is a web browser that is available on all technology platforms from your computer to your phone. This web browser is linked to your Google account, which means that your history, settings, and bookmarked websites are synched to any device logged in with your account. The privacy is outstanding alongside its incognito mode, which prevents the browser from attaining browsing history, cookies, site data, and information entered in forms. Although, if the device is connected to a public internet service provider, the activities within incognito mode may still be visible. Applications may be inputted as a shortcut for fast and easy access. As a user, this feature allows me to save time and access material I have previously viewed.

Google Apps are free, productive, and collaborative tools that may be used by a range of users. These apps include Google Classroom, Maps, Play, News, Drive, Keep, Blogger, etc. These apps promote teamwork and productivity in which users can share files with other users to work on the file simultaneously. The most impressive thing about Google Apps is that files and documents are easily transferred from one app to another. For instance, I created a survey using Google Forms; I can easily incorporate the responses from the survey into a file in Google Sheets for effortless interpretation of the data. Therefore, these are user-friendly apps that contain endless capabilities as a student and future teacher.

LiveBinders is a digital tool in which users can share resources and information using links, sites, and documents. This tool replaces an actual binder and helps the environment by not utilizing paper. As I create my LiveBinder, I can add content such as videos, pictures, text, links, audio, GIFs, etc. although one tab is limited to one content only. The site has quite several limitations due to its old-fashioned design. This website does offer a free account. However, users may only create up to 10 LiveBinders, most sites can only be viewed in its browser, pictures cannot be resized, and limited visual appeal. I like tools that are appealing and modern, especially if students will be using it. The central aspect of LiveBinders is its organization using tabs. Only one website link or document may be placed in one tab. If a person included a lot of information in their LiveBinders, it would result in a lot of tabs. There is a more convenient way to find public and various resources/information, and that is a search engine.

Wix is a free website and mobile site development platform. Users can create and customize various types of websites. To get you started, they provide users with different themes templates and inquires about what kind of site you wish to create. During the editing process, you may customize every inch of the screen, such as titles, buttons, social tools, forms, music, videos, etc. If you wish to create a website to sell products, there are marketing and financial instruments that will assist you in reaching a wider audience and reviewing the details of transactions. Also, users can open their inbox to view what customers have sent in the chat messages or filled out in forms. In an educational setting, students may create a presentation using this site as it has sleek designs and allows you to include various types of content.

Microsoft Teams is a communication and collaborative platform which allows its users to have video meetings, file storage (including shared files), and chat. It is associated with Microsoft Office 365. This platform is excellent to use in professional settings. I say this because it focuses on working together on assignments. Although, a downside of this app is the buffer time, as it takes a little while for the page to load fully. If you are accessing this platform through the office 365 website, it will recommend the user to download the app itself to better stay connected. With its office like feel, the app is one of many excellent ways to communicate and work with others.

Elevate is a brain training app that is designed to help users stay sharp and boost productivity. This gaming app is a terrific way to improve your reading, writing, math, listening, and speaking skills. As you train daily, you may track your improvement. The free account lets users train daily with three games, but the other games won’t be available to play for the day unless users purchase the premium version. As a student, I have used this app, and it challenges and exercises my brain. I would say that this has improved my skills. To get the best out of this app, you must continually train daily to see a significant improvement with your skills.

Quizlet is an application that allows users to create study material and share it with other users. The main feature of Quizlet is its flashcard functionality, in which students can mainly study vocabulary or key terms. Over time, the flashcard element fashioned multiple games and learning tools. Once students have studied using the flashcard tool, they may switch into a different study mode like writing, matching, or taking a test. There is also an audio feature for students that are audio-visual learners or on the go. I use this app to study course material, and I look forward to creating study sets for my students in the future. This app does not fail to make studying more compelling and enjoyable.

Journey to Implementing Educational Technology

The purpose of this group assignment was to demonstrate our abilities in assessing an online educational game based on its competence to assist student learning. We were told to search for the “perfect” online educational game. This portion of the assignment was time-consuming because most games did not prove to have a profound lesson. In the next class meeting, we were supposed to individually pitch our game to the rest of the group members. Once we chose a game, the obstacle continued to create a rubric with specific criteria for the game. No one in the group has experience with creating a rubric, so this was our first time. Creating the rubric itself proved to be the most challenging because we are not entirely sure what characteristics would make an impressive educational online game. As a group, we examined what we wanted to play in a student’s perspective rather than a teacher’s. However, we did not completely disregard what the teacher’s framework for what an effective game i

Granted Dreams with Assistive Technology

Students with disabilities struggle with learning, achieving their goals, and pursuing their dreams. In the classroom, they are presented with challenging ways to learn effectively. Every student has a different way of learning and needs, particularly students with disabilities. As a future educator, it is my job to serve every student’s learning needs and provide the tools they need in order to be successful participants in the classroom. Modifying lesson plans and activities to accommodate students with disabilities is an essential attribute every educator should possess. These accommodations create equal learning opportunities and allow every student to participate in class actively. The video, Assistive Technology: Enabling Dreams , demonstrated how technology has helped numerous students with their learning and how it is incorporated into classrooms. Each student used unique devices that accommodated their specific needs. Teaching strategies, materials, media, and activitie
