Technology Tools Review

MOODLE is an educational learning platform, which stands for Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment. This is a great tool to use in any educational establishment. The University of Guam uses MOODLE to conduct online and on-ground classes. Professors may post important announcements and a description of weekly lessons using text or links that students may access or download. Regarding assignments, instructors may provide deadlines and various ways for students to turn in their assignments. (Ex. links, photos, text, and documents) Furthermore, instructors may provide feedback, create groups for students, emails to notify when an assignment has been submitted or graded, and communicating in discussion forums. I find this app convenient for students and teachers, as it can be accessed globally. It allows me to be updated with class materials and assignments created by my instructors. This platform may require significant usage and practice to experience its fullest pote...

Granted Dreams with Assistive Technology

Students with disabilities struggle with learning, achieving their goals, and pursuing their dreams. In the classroom, they are presented with challenging ways to learn effectively. Every student has a different way of learning and needs, particularly students with disabilities. As a future educator, it is my job to serve every student’s learning needs and provide the tools they need in order to be successful participants in the classroom. Modifying lesson plans and activities to accommodate students with disabilities is an essential attribute every educator should possess. These accommodations create equal learning opportunities and allow every student to participate in class actively. The video, Assistive Technology: Enabling Dreams , demonstrated how technology has helped numerous students with their learning and how it is incorporated into classrooms. Each student used unique devices that accommodated their specific needs. Teaching strategies, materials, media, and activitie...

Being Safe in the World Wide Web

The class was assigned to create presentations about digital safety, and my group was assigned to present about cyberbullying. In our respective groups, we were to research and gather context about our given topic and present it to the class. I believe we were given this assignment to be more aware of being safe on the Internet as well as being qualified to teach our future students the significance of digital safety. As the class progresses through the semester, we were introduced to numerous technology tools such as websites, applications, and software. We must be proficient in incorporating technology into the classroom and cautious with what tools we are introducing to our students.   According to the Lexico dictionary, Cyberbullying is “The use of electronic communication to bully a person, typically by sending messages of an intimidating or threatening nature.” (2019) As a future educator, we are required to use our skills and roles to create a safe environment i...

Journey to Implementing Educational Technology

The purpose of this group assignment was to demonstrate our abilities in assessing an online educational game based on its competence to assist student learning. We were told to search for the “perfect” online educational game. This portion of the assignment was time-consuming because most games did not prove to have a profound lesson. In the next class meeting, we were supposed to individually pitch our game to the rest of the group members. Once we chose a game, the obstacle continued to create a rubric with specific criteria for the game. No one in the group has experience with creating a rubric, so this was our first time. Creating the rubric itself proved to be the most challenging because we are not entirely sure what characteristics would make an impressive educational online game. As a group, we examined what we wanted to play in a student’s perspective rather than a teacher’s. However, we did not completely disregard what the teacher’s framework for what an effective game i...
